Even though in most university programmes in Austria the language of tuition is German, the University of Applied Sciences offers quite a variety of courses in English for exchange students. There are currently more than 300 individual courses delivered in English.
Besides, there are several English-taught degree programmes intended mostly for international degree-seeking students. Often those courses are also available for exchange students.
Exchange students can only select courses from one Campus, not from all four Schools of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. This should be, of course, the Campus your home university is cooperating with and has nominated you for exchange.
The lists of courses taught in English and available for exchange students are published by the International Office and updated regularly online:
| Hagenberg Campus School of Informatics, Communications and Media | Linz Campus School of Applied Health and Social Sciences |
|---|---|
| currently no courses are offered | |
| Steyr Campus School of Management | Wels Campus School of Engineering and Environmental Sciences |
Exchange students are expected to have a B2 level of English in order to participate in courses taught in English. Exchange students can only be admitted into courses if they have the necessary prerequisites to follow the class. This is especially the case for laboratory classes and Master's level courses.
Exchange students with good German language skills (minimum requirement B2 level) are, of course, also welcome to attend courses of our German-taught programmes.
If you want to find out which courses are offered in our numerous Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, please first select the study programme here and then look for the submenu "Curriculum". By clicking on the module, you will be able to see the specific courses as well as the course description. This information may for some study programmes only be available on the German version of our webpage.
